The Leuphana University of Lüneburg in Germany is currently undergoing a process of renewal. Since the fall of 2007, Leuphana has been developing a new model for higher education that is based on humanist values, sustainability and student-centered learning. Having established the College, the Graduate School and the Professional School, the University now intends to raise its profile by offering forty new professorships in various academic fields within the Incubator project. The Innovation Incubator of Lüneburg is a European project for regional economic development involving nearly EUR 100m. It is a major program aimed at regional development, initiated by the Leuphana University and the German Federal State of Lower Saxony. This project, funded mainly by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE) and supported by the Leuphana University, aims at moving toward sustainable modernization and development of the Lüneburg region. Lüneburg is located near the City of Hamburg, Northern Germany.
The key objective of the following W2/W3 and consultancy projects in collaboration with small and medium-sized companies and institutions in the Lüneburg convergence region as well as to develop innovative higher education at Graduate School level. Furthermore, applicants for this position will be expected to support PhD and Master’s candidates. For this purpose, the Graduate School of the Leuphana University invites applications for the following professor position limited to a maximum period of two years and intends to fill the vacancy with immediate effect. The Professor position is offered in the following academic field:
Culture and region and/or cultural development in regional communities
Candidates should have a large international network with a strong focus on the economy that proves advantageous to the Lüneburg convergence region. They should have basic knowledge of the German language. They are not involved in academic lecturing.
Successful applicants will have a PhD and a strong record of publications as well as an excellent academic background and experience in the given field, embedded in an international context. They will have in-depth project management experience and an outgoing personality. The provisions of Section 25 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) apply.
